Paolo Scalabrini (1713-1803)

Paolo Scalabrini was an Italian-born composer who came to Denmark in the end of 1747. As a composer he specialised in operas and musical theatre. At the time operas were quite new in Denmark, but became popular with Scalabrini's music and he therefore quickly became the Royal Kapellmeister instead of Scheibe. His long list of works includes the operetta Den belønnede Kjærlighed (The Rewarding Love), which was originally composed to a Italian text that was translated into Danish.
