Poul Ruders (b. 1949)

Poul Ruders got his degree in organ from the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts Southern Denmark. In addition to that he studied composition with Ib Nørholm. For the past 15-20 years Ruders has experienced a growing interest in his music and has composed works for great orchestras and musicians. He has received several awards and grants for his music such as the Carl Nielsen grant in 1987, The Royal Philharmonic Charles Heydsieck Champagne Award (London) in 1991 and in 1997 he was awarded the Danish Arts Foundation's lifetime grant.
