Vagn Holmboe (1909-1996)

Vagn Holmboe was a composer, who studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen (Knud Jeppesen, Finn Høffding a.o.), and with Ernst Toch in Berlin. From 1933 to 34 he studied in Romania - particularly folk music, which influenced his later works. In 1950 he became professor at the Royal Academy of Music. His compositions include operas, ballets, symphonies, concerti, works for chamber orchestra and ensemble, choral works, songs, etc.
