New composers at Edition·S
Welcome to Jeppe Just Christensen, Lasse Schwanenflügel Piasecki and Ylva Lund Bergner.
Ylva Lund Bergner's music is mostly written for smaller chamber ensembles, and she often includes electronics that the musicians control themselves. In some of her compositions she implements unusual folk instruments from all over the world and home made objects as a way of creating a personalised sound. A main element in her music is the dynamic making the musicians melt together and create a coherent body of sound.
Jeppe Just Christensen is known for building and rebuilding his own instruments, and he works with various elements in his music, bearing references to everyday objects, childhood, nostalgia and musical mismatch. One of his strong compositional principles is cutting to the bone and removing everything unnecessary, leaving only the simple material, and creating condensed and personal music. This implies the aim of finding some kind of truth in the banal and naive.
Lasse Schwanenflügel Piasecki’s music is partly or fully based on concepts found in an audiovisual crossroads. Piasecki often seeks to combine the two forms of expression or to blur the borders between them. In several works he draws aspects of reality into the music, for instance by articulating the fragility in the concert situation. A sense of synergy between the abstract, scored music and the concrete reality, in which the music is performed, often arises in his pieces. In this way he allows a hint of a visual narrative usually belonging to the more dramatic forms of expression.
It is a great pleasure for Edition·S to initiate partnerships with these three talented composers, and further expand the variety of musical expressions we represent.
