Henning Christiansen started composing as early as the age of 14. Later he graduated as a clarinettist and music teacher from the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Here he took composition as a subsidiary subject with Vagn Holmboe. Between 1956 and 59 he was a member of the Royal Life Guard Band. In the 60's Henning Christiansen became a prominent figure in the Danish Fluxus movement; in those years he also started working with the legendary artist Joseph Beuys in Dusseldorf. Later he worked at the Hamburg Art Academy as a multimedia professor. Apart from chamber-, orchestral- and vocal music his oeuvre includes music for films and television.
