
The young Georgian composer first made her mark on the international scene in 1986, where she was awarded 3rd Prize in Moscow's International Competition for young composers with her Three Poems by Jarji Pkhoveli.
She studied composition with Aleksi Machavariani, orchestration with Sulkhan Tsintsadze and polyphony with Archil Chimakadze at the Conservatory of Music in Tbilisi and graduated in 1988. She then continued her postgraduate studies in composition with Sulkhan Tsintsadze from 1988–90 and was accepted as a member of the Georgian Composer's Union.
Janjgava has written a large number of works for both ballet and film productions, symphonic works, chamber music and vocal music - both a cappella and solo/instrument works.
She is a co-owner of a music publishing house and recording studio, along with her activities as director of the vocal/instrumental ensemble, Theater of Sound, which she founded in 2006.
Her music has been performed in numerous international festivals and concerts in Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Europe and USA.
Theatre of Voices Edition is a publishing initiative founded by and under the artistic leadership of the singer and conductor Paul Hillier. Each publication is prepared carefully to meet the standards of professional choir singers and conductors of the 21st century.
