Last week, after an involvement spanning nearly 25 years, we said farewell to Christine Canals-Frau, our former editor-in-chief and acting director.
Christine first started working for what was then known as the Samfundet til Udgivelse af Dansk Musik (Society for the Publication of Danish Music) on a freelance basis back in the 80's, contributing her part writing skills. In 2001 she joined the publisher as editor-in chief and her fantastic ability to spot minute errors at a glance as well as simultaneously keep track of a myriad of complex projects, sometimes spanning many years, soon became an essential part of Edition Samfundet's activities. She played an important part in holding all these threads togethter during the transformation of the old ‘Society’ into the modern publisher that is Edition·S today. She will be sorely missed.
A number of composers and figures from Danish music life dropped by the Edition·S offices last Friday for a final drink together. Some of them took the oppurtnity to deliver some colourful speeches in which they reflected on the last 20 years of Danish musical life and the many changes Edition·S has gone through.
After all the years of attending to composer's, ensemble's, musician's and orchestra's needs we hope that she will finally have more time to pursue her literary and creative interests. We thank Christine for that she has contributed to the company and wish her all the best for the future.
