The International Rostrum of Composers is considered the most important platform for the exposure of new music on the radio. In 2026, Rostrum takes place from May 12 to 15 in Riga in Latvia, where representatives from more than 30 radio stations meet for three days of listening sessions.
In the announcement from DR, Adrianna Kubica-Cypek’s Printemps is described as “advanced vocal music,” in which the text is absorbing and where spring, through the music, “becomes an almost psychedelic and intoxicating, sensual and nearly religious experience of light and love and budding leaves.”
Printemps is part of Kubica-Cypek's choral cycle Saisons, composed for 16 voices a cappella, exploring spaces and structures whose forms evoke memories of the various times of the year. Printemps was commissioned and premiered by the Danish National Vocal Ensemble in spring 2024, and Kubica-Cypek was awarded Carl Prisen 2025 for this work.
Besides from Adrianna Kubica-Cypek's piece, Denmark will also be represented with music by Aya Yoshida and Louise Alenius.
The International Rostrum of Composers has been held since 1955. In the International Rostrum of Composers – known as the Grand Prix – around 30 countries compete with new music composed within the last five years. The competition is organized by the International Music Council, while the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) – of which DR is also a member – is a partner and ensures that Europe's radio stations can broadcast the works across borders.
