Get ready for an undersea experience out of the ordinary.

Axel Borup-Jørgensen’s symphonic poem Marin (1963–70) has been turned into an animated movie receiving its world premiere Tuesday night in Holte, Denmark.

The 20-minute movie, accompanied by a new re-recording of Marin by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, will take the audience to an undersea world inhabited by creatures called marenes. Rather than telling a specific story the animated version of Marin offers a visual fantasy without a narrative, allowing the audience to explore the visuals as well as the music in their own way.

Also premiered at the event is a new Axel Borup-Jørgensen documentary, “AXEL”, including interviews with composers Per Nørgård, Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen, Ib Nørholm and Finn Savery. Elisabet Selin – the daughter of Axel Borup-Jørgensen – and OUR Recordings co-founder Lars Hannibal will introduce the two movies and talk about promoting Borup-Jørgensen’s music in Denmark and abroad.
