Each morning this week, P2 premieres a new choir piece written by one of five Danish composers to a poem by Caspar Eric. The pieces are commissioned and performed by the Danish National Vocal Ensemble as a special initiative during the COVID-19 lockdown.
In a press release from DR, the artistic director of the Danish National Vocal Ensemble, Michael Emery says:
"While the singers of the Danish National Vocal Ensemble have been unable to sing together a strong need to engage in the music and the singing in different ways has developed. Since we have always worked closely together with Danish composers we wanted to create a bouquet of musical snapshots in collaboration with some of the artists that are dear to the choir. "
Besides from Ylva Lund Bergner, the pieces are composed by Phillip Faber, Michael Bojesen, Christoffer Møller and Bent Sørensen.
The five new choir pieces will be uploaded to the YouTube channel of DR Koncerthuset after the broadcasts. Furthermore all five pieces will be performed live on 24 and 25 June 2021 in Trinitatis Kirke, Copenhagen.
