Celebrating Poul Rovsing Olsen

On November 4, 2022, Poul Rovsing Olsen (1922-1982) would have turned 100. This is celebrated by the Danish music community with a series of performances in late summer and autumn.

The first concerts with Rovsing Olsen's music on the programme take place during the Late Summer Festival in Hvide Sande on 15-19 August.

See upcoming performances of Poul Rovsing Olsen's music below and stay updated with new concert dates in the Edition·S performance calendar.

Poul Rovsing Olsens was a composer, lawyer, writer and music ethnologist. His many trips to the Arab and Middle Eastern countries coloured his tonal language, and his contributions to Nordic modernism are quite unique. His early works show inspiration from composers such as Stravinsky, Bartok and Poulenc and not least Boulanger and Messiaen, who were both his teachers.
