Concert and Talk

On 11 August, Edition·S invites you to a special evening marking the (re)release of works by three extraordinary – yet historically overlooked – Danish female composers

Hilda Sehested (1858–1936), Nancy Dalberg (1881–1949) and Tekla Griebel Wandall (1866–1940).

These composers made significant contributions to Danish music, but their voices have too often been left out of the historical narrative.

The publication series Danish Classical Music (DCM) brings the musical heritage to today’s musicians, researchers and listeners. DCM is currently (re)publishing works by historically overlooked female composers in meticulous and reliable practical-scholarly music editions.

Now, we shine a light on their lives, stories, and – most importantly – their music.

Join us for an evening of music and storytelling, where host Thomas Husted Kirkegaard, in conversation with the editors, explores the lives and work of Hilda Sehested, Nancy Dalberg and Tekla Griebel Wandall. Throughout the evening, selected works will be performed by soprano Louise McClelland, pianist Laurits Dragsted, cornetist Victor Koch, and violinist Christina Åstrand.
