“We are very much looking forward to collaborating with Edition·S and Dacapo,” says Head of Music at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Lars Fenger. “Together, we can present audiences with some of the most innovative voices in Danish contemporary music and create a close, immersive experience with composers and musicians.”
At Louisiana, audiences will be introduced to remarkable new works by some of Denmark’s finest composers, performed by musicians who specialize in contemporary music, embracing everything it may involve: extended techniques, electronics, video, performative elements, and more.
After each concert, there will be a chance to engage closely with the music, composers, and performers in a conversation about contemporary music. Audiences will hear about the composer’s creative process, the musicians’ way of approaching the pieces, and will also have the opportunity to ask questions – How does one navigate new music? And what thoughts and emotions does the music provoke in us as listeners?

The first concerts in the series take place on June 6 and 7, featuring works by Simon Steen-Andersen, whose work unfolds at the intersection of music, performance, theatre, choreography, and film. Time and again, he has created music that defies expectations and neither sounds nor looks like anything experienced before. His radical innovation often emerges through playful and investigative engagement with classical music traditions and materials – and he has long built a significant international audience, with his works being performed in concert halls and opera houses worldwide.
The concert combines live performance and video, offering a rare opportunity to experience a selection of his works in Denmark – including full-length chamber works and excerpts from his extensive multimedia productions. The evening’s program is curated by the composer himself and performed by cellist Tanja Orning and percussionist Håkon Stene (on accordion), with Simon Steen-Andersen performing on fan, balloon, and whammy pedal.
