Dark Music Days

Duo EKKI MINNA will perform several works by Simon Steen-Andersen and a piece by Christian Winther Christensen at Dark Music Days 2019 in Iceland. The duo will perform Beside Besides (2003), Next to Beside Besides #3 (2006), and Difficulties Putting It into Practice by Simon Steen-Andersen, as well as Täuschung: Ein Licht tanzt freundlich vor mir her (2012) by Christian Winther Christensen, on 31 January.

EKKI MINNA consists of cellist Andrew Power and accordionist Jónas Ásgeir Ásgeirsson, who formed the duo at PULSAR Festival 2017, during which they performed Tre stykker til Lea by Matias Vestergård Hansen, a piece that will also be published by Edition·S during 2020.

Additionally, Bara Gisladottir also has a piece on the festival programme: ORF (en líka axir og önnur pyntingatæki) which is to be performed by Marco Fusi.

Myrkir Músíkdagar (Dark Music Days) is an annual festival of contemporary and new music that takes place during the darkest period of the winter in Reykjavík. Since 1980 the Icelandic Composers’ Society has created a platform for Icelandic composers to present their work, and today the festival has expanded with the aim of performing and introducing new music in general – though still with a primary focus on Icelandic compositions and performers.
