Edition·S composers at Darmstadt

Simon Steen-Andersen, Bára Gísladóttir, Simon Løffler and Niels Rønsholdt are all represented at this year's Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik Darmstadt.

Bára Gísladóttir's 'VAPE' will be performed at Darmstadt

The Darmstadt Summer Course for New Music offers an intense programme of courses, workshops, lectures and discussions regarding new music, and not least an extensive concert and performance programme.

Edition·S is represented with no less than four composers. The opening concert sees yet another performance of Simon Steen-Andersen's award winning 'Piano Concerto', and on the programme for that same concert is Bára Gísladóttir's  'VAPE' written for the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and premiered at PULSAR festival 2017.

Simon Steen-Andersen has been associated to the Darmstadt Summer Course since he received the Kranichstein Music Prize there in 2008, he has taught there since 2014 and again this year he is tutor in composition at Darmstadt.

Simon Løffler's 'e' is part of the ensemble Speak Percussion's sound and light performance 'Fluorophone' which also includes fluorecent works by Juliana Hodkinson, Damien Ricketson and Eugene Ughetti. Furthermore the Darmstadt Summer Course has commisioned a new piece by Simon Løffler, music for the film 'Dream Work' by Peter Tscherkassky. The work will be premiered by ensemble Nikel.

Last but not least Niels Rønsholdt and Juliana Hodkinson's X&X will be performed by Frauke Aulbert and Małgorzata Walentynowicz at the concert Série Rose shedding light on the theme New Music & Erotica.
