Edition·S Orchestral Project with Composition Students

Edition·S has, in connection with this year’s PULSAR Festival and the Royal Conservatory, worked together with some of the conservatory’s composition students in preparing new orchestral works.

Edition·S has assisted the students in preparing the orchestral materials at a level appropriate to the professionalism of the DR Symphony Orchestra. The three compositions students; Martin Stauning, Aya Yoshida and James Black have each received an orchestral commission from the DR Symphony Orchestra for a 10 minute work to be premiered at the opening concert of the PULSAR festival. The works are published by Edition·S – take a look at our PULSAR feature.

Edition·S talked with the composers James Black and Aya Yoshida about the process of writing their first orchestral work: Read the interview here.
