Ejnar Kanding’s album Fragile Fortitude is released by Cosmopol Music Group on 27 September. The work is composed for piano trio and live electronics, and is dedicated to the Danish musicians Monika Malmquist, Ida Nørholm, and Christine Raft, who form the piano trio, Trio Ismena.
Inspired by Giacometti’s art, especially his masterpiece Woman (Flat II), Fragile Fortitude delves into the complex and delicate balance between vulnerability and inner strength, reflecting the intricacies of the human condition.
The work was created in collaboration with the National Gallery of Denmark SMK and EarUnit, and was premiered live in February 2024 on occasion of the large Giacometti solo exhibition presented at the National Gallery of Denmark.
Ejnar Kanding has had great success with the album releases of the melodically grounded music, which is a part of the aesthetic in his broad and multifaceted body of work.
The release of Fragile Fortitude is Supported by the Danish Arts Foundation, Augustinus Foundation, William Demant Foundation, and Aage and Johanne Louis-Hansen Foundation.
