Ejnar Kanding in New York

This weekend the renowned TRANSIT ensemble hosts the DoubleBill Festival in New York and Edition·S – music¬sound¬art composer Ejnar Kanding is on the programme.

The festival runs from May 25 to 27 in Brooklyn, New York and presents a string of prestigious ensembles and composers. On May 25 at 8 pm the talented ensemble Transit premieres Ejnar Kanding’s Texture 1 for clarinet, percussion, piano, violin, cello and live electronics. The performance takes place at Actors Fund Art Center in Brooklyn.

Kanding’s performance is a part of TRANSIT’s DoubleBill series, which highlights emerging composers from New York as well as another city. This format allows the audiences to hear the latest offerings from composers in a cultural hotspot. TRANSIT will present its first-ever DoubleBill Festival of three shows in three days, each showcasing a different country. First up is Denmark, then Australia and last The Netherlands.

TRANSIT is a Brooklyn-based new music collective that was formed in 2007 and has since established a reputation for producing exciting concerts featuring young composers and for special projects that push the boundaries of musical convention. In all its endeavors, TRANSIT remains committed to breaking down barriers between living composers and the culture at large while maintaining the dignity of both.
