Many know Else Marie Pade (1924-2016) as a pioneer of electronic music in Denmark in the 1950s. What fewer may know is that Else Marie Pade also wrote highly visionary orchestral music, which until now has only existed in the composer's original manuscripts and has therefore never been performed in their entirety.
Now the scores have been handed over to Edition·S, making possible the first recording of Pade's four orchestral works.
The recordings with Malmö Opera Orchestra, violinist Christina Åstrand, trumpet player Michael Frank Møller and conductor Joachim Gustafsson will be released by Dacapo Records in November 2022.
The focal point of the event is a talk with Christina Åstrand, concertmaster of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and soloist on the new release, and Henrik Marstal, long-time connoisseur of Else Marie Pade's music and author of several books about the composer. At the talk, Pade's Violin Concerto is presented for the first time.
