Since 2008 the International Ensemble Modern Academy – an extension of the renowned Ensemble Modern, based in Frankfurt, Germany – has been offering master classes for talented young musicians.
At the so-called ‘epoche_f’ master classes the young musicians get the chance to perform 20th- and 21st-century works with musicians from Ensemble Modern. The works are then presented at a number of joint concerts at the end of the course.
This year the epoche_f master classes have been featuring Martin Stauning’s Verdorrte Räume (2015/17), which was initially written for Ensemble Modern and world premiered at the KLANG Festival 2015 in Copenhagen. Stauning has adapted the piece to fit the number of musicians in the Academy.
Verdorrte Räume will be performed at three concerts in Hannover, Aarhus and Bratislava.
