Exciting news for Rune Glerup

To compliment the coming release of his CD on Dacapo Records, Rune Glerup has received a new commission from IRCAM in Paris.

The composer’s work often utilises the possibilities offered by electronics in conjunction with live instrumentalists and so this newly commissioned work for clarinet, string quartet, and electronics, which will be worked on whilst in residence at the venerable centre for electronic music this year, is an opportunity to further his practice in this avenue following earlier studies there.

Drawing together a quintet of works written over a three-year period, next month sees the release of the first CD devoted to Glerup’s work. The collection is a rich offering of a broad set of works the young Dane has written, illustrating clearly his command of everything from the solo piano in the Sonata in Seven Movements, electronics and live instruments in Dust Encapsulated #1 (Counting is OK), right up to the full sinfonietta line-up of Divertimento.

Upcoming performances include the Athelas Sinfonietta playing Divertimento (2010-13) in Kiel, Germany, on February 20 and Quartettsatz (2013) to be played by the London Sinfonietta in London on March 12.
