This week has been a week of love! Yesterday it was Valentine’s Day and even though we don’t actually celebrate that in Denmark, we didn’t think you should miss out on an Edition·S – music¬sound¬art styled Valentine’s Card.
So here you go – Happy Valentine’s!
Yesterday was not only Valentine’s Day, but also composer Wayne Siegel’s 60th birthday. The American-born composer is a professor of electronic music and his works as been commissioned by performers as different as the Kronos Quartet and Safri Duo. He is a highly acclaimed composer, who has created works within many different genres. He especially “loves to create music with computers” as the Danish newspaper Politiken’s Thomas Michelsen puts it. Happy birthday, Wayne!
Speaking of different genres. Last Friday Edition·S was invited to join the celebration of the Chinese New Year at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen. The evening was the Danish contribution to the Chinese Spring Festival and was co-hosted by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the Danish Cultural Institute. Apparently, we have just left the year of the dragon and entered the year of the snake. The Inner Mongolia Wulanmuqi Art Troupe celebrated this with colourful performances as a tribute to the beautiful landscape of Mongolia – the Grassland. A very interesting evening!
We hope you’ll have a pleasant & colourful weekend!
