This week we have been recovering from all the festivals we have attended the past couple of weeks. Last weekend some of the Edition·S staff temporarily moved to Aarhus to attend the annual SPOR Festival. And as you may know, our last Flashback Friday was generated live from this beautiful city – the city of smiles!
After a perfect start to the festival with Simon Steen-Andersen’s Black Box Music (see pics from the concert in our last Flashback Friday post) we were very excited about Friday night’s performance of Niels Rønsholdt’s Me Quitte. The audience embraced the work, gave it a big applause and left the concert room spellbound by the music and the love in the air.
The next day, in the afternoon, our very own Christian Winther Christensen attended an artist talk before his performance the same evening. At the talk audiences had the opportunity to ask questions to the “call for proposals” composers – which resulted in a deep talk about what art means. The festival’s guest curator, composer Juliana Hodkinson, moderated the talk.
In the evening Christian’s work Six Preludes was on the programme. The preludes are the first six out of 24 that he is going to compose over the next couple of years. We look forward to hearing more! Becky Dawson attended and described the concert with these words:
"I was really intrigued by Christian's Six Preludes: the piano was painstakingly prepared by being covered in masking-tape, and the muffled piano sound combined with live electronics produced something unique - the music was beautiful, witty and timeless! This was actually my first ever visit to SPOR - I absolutely loved it and hope it will be my first SPOR of many!"
Last, but not least, the amazing artist duo Klejs & Rønsholdt had their work Racer on the Click Festival programme in an installation version in a so-called 4D box – very exciting stuff!
Have a nice weekend – and enjoy the bank holiday!
