This week we have been preparing for the Danish Composers’ Society’s big birthday bash this Saturday. The Society is celebrating its 100th anniversary and in that connection they celebrate with an entire day of music from the past 100 years. We are very proud to be a part of such a grand celebration and are well represented both by old and significant works and brand new premieres.
The lovely Zoë Martlew is joining us for the premiere of no less than three works! At 6.45 pm she premieres Christian W Christensen’s new piece and Ejnar Kanding Fluctuant in the old hall. At 7.40 pm Zoë performs Morten Olsen’s work from 1999 Jernbyrd in the atrium – a work she calls a ”crazy-ass-difficult piece”. The work has never been performed before and is known for being almost impossible to play.
You can experience Edition·S music all day long:

This week the May edition of our newsletter was sent out. This month we focused on all the festivals that are coming up – including Danish Composers’ Society’s “one-day festival”. The rest of the month will be full of festivals with one syllable – SPOT, SPOR, CLICK and KLANG. Do we spot a trend!?
In the newsletter the E·xclusive part was a “quick’n’dirty” interview with Jexper Holmen about his fascination with music boxes. In this he compares music boxes with ladybirds: “one is nice, but in those summers where ladybirds swarm, it is rather frightening” Read the entire article here and learn more about Jexper’s new piece Alnitak for 72 participants, 60 music boxes and 12 accordions.
This week we chose a new video for our #videobooth on our Twitter profile. The new video is from Klejs & Rønsholdt’s workshop at the Culture Yard in Elsinore in February and shows a little preview of the work Home, which the artist duo is going to the big apple (New York) in June to develop. The video is in Danish until 5:20 min, but you can get a pretty good idea about how the work is going to be realised. Very exciting piece! Watch the video here.
Have a nice weekend!
And please join us tomorrow at Danish Composers’ Society’s celebrations at the Black Diamond in Copenhagen. In case you are not able to make it, please keep an eye on our Twitter profile where we will tweet photos from some of the performances.
