The Danish Arts Foundation has announced that Allan Gravgaard Madsen will be the next composer-in-residence at the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. The residency runs from 2018 to 2021 and will ensure forthcoming world premieres of new works, CD recordings and international exposure at festivals for contemporary music.
“I was a high school student at Viborg Katedralskole, when I heard a symphony orchestra live for the first time,” Allan Gravgaard Madsen says about the appointment. “It changed my life. The orchestra back then was the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, which has ever since had a special place in my heart. It is therefore almost unreal that I now get the possibility to fulfill a lifelong dream of mine and become their composer-in-residence.”
The 3-year residency includes a 230,000 DKK fee from the Danish Arts Foundation for the composer.
