On 18 July, ensemble mosaik presents a memorial concert for flautist Bettina Junge (1968 – 2024) featuring a "Songbook for Bettina." Composers with whom Bettina Junge maintained close artistic collaborations and friendships have written short tributes for the entire ensemble. This includes Juliana Hodkinson's we pass so slowly, it seems, which takes its title from Cynthia Troup’s longform poem we pass (Aphids, 2000).
In the programme note for the piece, Juliana Hodkinson writes:
The pragmatic will to allow it (us), to organise itself (ourselves) according to the operations of all that is worth offering forward for change even
at the expense of its resolve.
The more-than practice that is the sum of countless repetitions of the will to trial and refine, by shifting and altering minutiæ of execution, and
all the tiny harvests and fallow-seconds it takes to keep the field alive, untimely inventing an own pulse, without limiting it (us) to a
predetermined metric.
The concert takes place in HALLE Tanzbühne Berlin. Find more information about the concert here.
