Kanding composed Fragile Fortitude with inspiration from Giacometti’s sculpture 'Woman (Flat II)'
The exhibition catalogue writes: “Alberto Giacometti's sculpture "Woman (Flat II)" is a testament to his innovative approach and keen understanding of form. Created between 1928 and 1929, this bronze piece stands as a striking representation of Giacometti's ability to distill the human figure into its most essential elements. The elongated proportions and attenuated features evoke a sense of both fragility and strength.”
The combination of fragility and strength in particular fascinated Ejnar Kanding. “I find the co-existence of the two very interesting. Think of the butterfly that manages to pass mountains and fly thousands of kilometers,” Kanding says.
Fragile Fortitude is written for piano trio and live electronics and will be premiered by Rudersdal Kammersolister and Ejnar Kanding.
SMK Fridays takes place 9 February 16.00-22.00 with an extensive event programme. Find more information here.
