The New Yorker calls it “the city's most exciting showcase for outstanding young composers from around the world”.

At this year's MATA festival – founded in 1996 by Philip Glass among others – the innovative Danish ensemble SCENATET will perform works by a selection of the world's most exciting early career composers, including Jexper Holmen and Christian Winther Christensen.

Led by artistic director and recent Pultizer Prize winner Du Yun, the organisers received works by more than a thousand composers ahead of the 2017 edition of the MATA festival, taking place 24–29 April in New York City.

SCENATET will perform Jexper Holmen's XP (2003) – available on Soundcloud in its original version for clarinet and tape – at the WhiteBox Gallery opening concert. The second day of the festival sees the world premiere of Christian Winther Christensen's new octet Chorale at The Kitchen.
