DR Pigekoret conducted by Phillip Faber
On the Women’s Rights Day, the 8th of March 2020, Line Tjørnhøj’s piece Hånden på Hjertet (2020) was to be premiered by DR Pigekoret in Holmens Kirke. Unfortunately, the premiere and following performances were cancelled due to the coronavirus situation (COVID-19).
DR has now released a video of the world premiere of Hånden på Hjertet as well as an interview with Line Tjørnhøj. Watch the world premiere performance of Hånden på Hjertet by DR Pigekoret, conducted by Phillip Faber in Holmens Kirke.
As part of the compositional process, Line interviewed the singers in order to incorporate their thoughts and views into the piece. DR has also released a behind-the-scenes video of Hånden på Hjertet. In Line’s interview with DR, she explains how the piece conveys the girls’ longing for authenticity, warm-heartedness and a sense of belonging. Watch Hånden på Hjertet behind the scenes here.

Before the premiere, Edition·S also interviewed the composer about her compositional process, to which she said:
“I have come to know some things about what they have the courage to do and what they are able to do. So I have incorporated parts where they talk and yell while singing in order for the listener to sense that the girls bring their very own sound into the piece.”
