Next week the late composer Axel Borup-Jørgensen will be remembered when Voz Nueva hosts a memorial concert in Birkerød.
Axel Borup-Jørgensen was a well-liked composer, who developed a deep connection with a group of singers and musicians who understood his poetic modernism. Some of these have put together a programme in the spirit of Borup-Jørgensen for a memorial concert next week, where his works are juxtaposed with classical works. The composer sadly passed away in October last year after a short period of illness at the age of 88.
The concert takes place on August 29, 2013 at 7.30 pm in Birkerød, Denmark. The concert is performed by the Danish trio Voz Nueva together with pianist Erik Kaltoft and is organised in collaboration with Edition Borup-Jørgensen. At the concert Borup-Jørgensen’s work Ende des Herbstes (1963), published by Edition·S, will be performed amongst others of his greatest works. The concert is a part of Rudersdal Summer Concerts where Borup-Jørgensen is one of the two festival composers this year.
The Danish trio Voz Nueva was founded in 2003 in order to promote new compositional music. The trio consists of soprano Signe Asmussen, guitarist Frederik Munk Larsen and percussionist Henrik Larsen. For this special occasion the pianist Erik Kaltoft joins the trio.
