New single release - Enjar Kanding: VENVS

A new single from Ejnar Kanding is released 14 August. The single VENVS is a part of CAELESTIA CORPORA, an upcoming 13-movement work recorded by Rudersdal Chamber Players.

Merging acoustic chamber music with electronics, the work is a sonic interpretation of celestial bodies, exploring the mythological essence of the Sun, the Moon, and the five planets known before 1781.

While the complete project features Kanding’s signature real-time electronic processing via Max/MSP alongside the Rudersdal Chamber Players, this specific single stands out as a purely acoustic experience.

While the upcoming album integrates real-time electronic processing, the single CAELESTIA CORPORA: VENVS (“Celestial Bodies: Venus”) is scored for string quartet. Named after the Roman goddess of love, fertility, and beauty, this movement evokes desire and sensuality. Written in E minor, the piece gradually transforms into E Phrygian toward the end. The viola opens the movement by introducing a delicate, tender melody, which is soon taken over by the first violin as the mild, sensuous atmosphere continues.

The release is supported by Koda Kultur and Augustinus Fonden
