Pernille Louise Sejlund World Premieres

Two different works by Pernille Louise Sejlund will be premiered a few days apart: A jubilant mass and five vignettes for trio.

Pernille Louise Sejlund wrote This Day - a jubilant mass in close collaboration with lyricist Mirian Due and the children and young people in the choir school of Folkekirken Vesterbro.

The work revolves around the joy of being. "Joy is petting a horse. Joy is sitting close together on the couch watching a movie. Joy is getting to know someone in a place where you knew no one so that you are no longer alone.” This is what some of the children's ideas of real joy sounded like, and their words are part of the final work.

This Day - a jubilant mass is composed for 120 singers aged 6-25, piano/organ and string quartet. The work will be premiered on 13 November in Enghave Church with performances at 14:00 and 16:00. Find more information here >>

On 17 November, Sejlund's Drømmespil is premiered in Væggerløse Church. The composer tells about the piece: "Drømmespil consists of five short "vignettes" based on the folk tune Drømte mig en drøm i nat. The music was written for a trio from Danish Chamber Players (flute, viola and harp). The music is often very quiet and subtle and in several of the vignettes, the theme only peeks out very discreetly in the instruments, which alternate between merging into a common organic sound and standing out as independent individuals/instruments.
