Between October 12–18 the yearly Carl Nielsen Chamber Music Competition takes place in Copenhagen. In addition to Nielsen and other repertoire pieces, the participating ensembles will perform newly written works by British composer James Black and Martin Stauning for the second round.
James Black’s piece At night, walking shoes full of blood on the door (or, steam heating a room full of opium) is composed for wind quintet and Martin Stauning's Welkende Schalen for string quartet.
The second round takes place on October 15 and 16 at the Queen's Hall, The Royal Library, between 12 PM and 7 PM. Admission is free.
