Riisager's Violin Concerto in Brasil

The Recife Symphony Orchestra in Brasil presents two concerts featuring Knudåge Riisager’s Violin Concerto on 24 and 25 September.

The violin was Riisager’s own instrument in the sense that he had played the violin from his childhood with the Royal Chamber Musician Peder Møller as his teacher. At an early stage, he had composed for the instrument, not least the Second Violin Sonata from 1923, which is one of the major works of his oeuvre. With the Violin Concerto Riisager made a highly personal contribution to the concerto genre.

The concert will be performed under the baton of French conductor Nathalie Marin, and the soloist for the performance is Danish based violinist Ian Van Rensburg. Rensburg is also the soloist on the highly praised album recording of Riisager’s Violin Concerto with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra released in 2019.

The two performances in Brasil will take place at the Santa Isabel Theater in Recife. Find more information about the concert here
