RO PÅ - meditation concert with 10 World Premieres

On 21 February, the Danish National Chamber Orchestra invites audiences to the concert RO PÅ, where ten new works will receive their world premieres in a program centered on care, calm and harmony.

The concert RO PÅ will unfold as one continuous musical-meditative flow, created through transitions composed by Louise Alenius, who has also co-curated the event. Drawing on the composers’ own experiences from their musical practices, the program will give rise to new, beautiful, and gentle works within an otherwise quite uniform, electronically based ambient meditation soundscape.

The participating composers are Aya Yoshida, Magnus Plejdrup, Arnannguaq Gerstrøm, Teitur, John FrandsenNiels Rønsholdt, SØS Gunver Ryberg, Mads Emil DreyerMatias Vestergård and Louise Alenius.

Before the concert, there will be an introduction featuring composer and concert curator Louise Alenius and Jakob Marstrand, the driving force behind DR’s “Ro På” project.

The works will also be recorded for use in DR’s podcast series “Music & Meditation,” which is based on the idea that music can support better mental health. The purpose of the works is thus very concrete: to embrace the listener with beauty, calm, and harmony as the meditation unfolds.
