Simon Steen-Andersen in prestigious French-Chinese premiere this week

The Danish composer Simon Steen-Andersen (34) is about to pass a milestone in his growing international career. On Tuesday, May 4, his new work for Gu Zheng solo and symphony orchestra, Ouvertures, will be premiered by the French Radio Philharmonic Orchestra during the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival.

The new work builds on to another composition, premiered in 2008, also in Shanghai, which won the young composer not only a 25,000 USD award, but also a commission form the French Radio for this week’s new work.

Simon Steen-Andersen is one of the most successful composers on the Danish and international art music scene right now. Recent winner of the Kranichsteiner Award, at present DAAD resident in Berlin, and with a completely full agenda for the next 2-3 years, Simon is already embarking on a remarkable international career.
