Simon Steen-Andersen’s portrait CD nominated for the P2 award

Every year P2 organises an award event to celebrate the best CDs of Danish composers and practitioners. This year it is up to the P2 listeners to choose the four winners, who will be celebrated at a gala concert in the DR Concert Hall September 30 at 7.30 pm.

Simon Steen-Andersen is one of the nominees and will be competing to get a P2 ”Listen to New” award 2011 with his album “Pretty Sound” performed by Norwegian Ensemble Asamisamasa and released by Dacapo Records.

The headliner of the gala concert is the recipient of the P2 Artist Award 2011, baritone Bo Skovhus, who has put together a personalized program of music from Vienna with songs from Gustav Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn and Franz Lehar’s operettas.

In addition to Bo Skovhus and the DR Orchestra conducted by Rolf Gupta, a number of the CD nominated artists will be performing including our young and talented composer Simon Steen-Andersen. You can also see Thomas Dausgaard, who is both nominated for the music of Anton Bruckner and Rued Langgaard, the vocal ensemble Theatre of Voices, which together with the organist Bine Bryndorf present music by Dietrich Buxtehude, Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen with mezzo-soprano Helene Gjerris, and pianist Tonya Lemoh, who has rediscovered the piano music by Svend Erik Tarp.

Celine Haastrup will present the P2 Award 2011 show and the concert is broadcasted live on P2 and on DR K on Sunday October 9.
