Simon Steen-Andersen’s award-winning Black Box Music – until recently only to be performed by the renowned Norwegian percussionist Håkon Stene, for whom the work was composed – will receive its Spanish premiere on 13 December when the local Extremadura musicians of Sinfonietta Container and the percussionist Roberto Maqueda will perform the work in Badajoz.
As Black Box Music is now available to perform by other percussionists than Håkon Stene, the black box, around which the work is centred, has had to be rebuilt to fit the hands of Roberto Maqueda.
Black Box Music will be performed at a concert which also features works by Kaj Duncan David, Óscar Escuidero and Alexander Schubert.
