Students Perform Portrait Concert

Next week students of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts will perform a portrait concert of Edition·S – music¬sound¬art composer Simon Steen-Andersen.

The concert is held on the first day of a film and music festival arranged by the academy, which runs from Thursday March 21 to Saturday March 23, 2013. At the concert the students will perform four of Steen-Andersen’s works including the highly acclaimed Black Box Music.

The mini festival looks at how we perceive film and music and the complex symbiosis of the two art forms. Simon Steen-Andersen’s works will be used as an example of a composer who turns the conventional relationship between music and visuals up side down, and uses video as a supplement to his musical language.

The concert takes place Thursday March 21 at 7.30 pm at Hochschule Luzern in Switzerland. The students will perform Simon Steen-Andersen’s Black Box Music (2012), History of My Instrument (2011), Study for String Instrument #3 (2011) and rerendered (2003-4).
