On the 16th of April the Danish Music Publishers' Association will give out Carl Prisen which honours 14 Danish composers and songwriters in rock, pop, jazz, classical music and other genres.
It's a pleasure to announce that Line Tjørnhøj is nominated for her piece Art vox reportage, Simon Steen-Andersen is nominated for his Piano Concerto and Svend Hvidtfelt Nielsen is nominated for his Toccata.
Tjørnhøj's choir work is inspired by the writer Elias Canetti and was commissioned by Ars Nova Copenhagen and Paul Hillier. Watch a performance of the piece here.
Simon Steen-Andersen's Piano Concerto was premiered at Donaueshinger Musiktage i October 2014 and is scored for piano, sampler, video and orchestra. Read more about the piece on the German radio station SWR2's multimedia site here.
Svend Hvidtfelt Nielsen's Toccata is an organ concerto commissioned by Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. The piece was awarded the prize as one of the seven best works in 2014 by the Danish Arts Foundation.
