Timothy Baxter premiere with 11-year old soloist

On 23 November Timothy Baxter’s orchestra work ‘Serenade for Viola and Orchestra’ will be premiered in Rotterdam by The Rotterdam Youth Symphony Orchestra.

A rather remarkable fun fact about the premiere of 'Serenade for Viola and Orchestra' is the age difference of 72 years between the soloist, 11-year old Tygo de Waal, and the composer, 83-year old Timothy Baxter.

Tygo de Waal will premiere Baxter's works together with The Rotterdam Youth Symphony Orcheestra at the 45th International Viola Congress organized by the Dutch Viola Society.

The Rotterdam Youth Symphony Orchestra (RJSO) is the biggest youth orchestra association in Rotterdam, embodying four complete symphony orchestras for different age groups of amateur musicians – from elementary school to university level. Conducted by Jim Roodnat, the RJSO orchestra brings a programme dedicated to viola solo pieces with young soloists from their own ranks.
