World Premiere by Martin Stauning

A new clarinet trio by Martin Stauning, Kinetic Still Life (Red), is premiered at the festival Kammermusik i Præstø on Friday 3 July.

Martin Stauning describes his new piece:

"Kinetic Still Life (Red) is the first work in a trilogy of colour studies in which I explore sound as a kind of pigment: vibrant, ephemeral, and constantly in motion.

In this first instalment, “red” becomes a musical behaviour—short, saturated bursts, abrupt dynamic shifts, and hyperactivity flickering against fragile sonic surfaces. The result is a still life that refuses to remain still.

The work opens a series that continues with Cosmetic Still Life (Blue) and Mimetic Still Life (White).

Together, the three pieces form a kind of triptych of contrasting sonic portraits, each colour opening its own distinct universe of movement, texture, and perception.

Kinetic Still Life (Red) is premiered at the chamber music festival Kammermusik i Præstø by Jonas Frølund, clarinet, Peter Andreas Nielsen, violin and Hyazintha Andrej, cello.
