Zoë Martlew blogs from her stay in DK

The English cellist and voice-performer Zoë Martlew, who is in Denmark on a DIVA-residency organised by SNYK and Edition·S, shares her thoughts on and curious observations of the Danes, the Danish music scene and generally her stay in Denmark on her website. Many things are out of the ordinary when you are a guest and a DIVA from the great big London. Read her witty comments on her “Z-Blog”.

During her DIVA-residency Zoë is developing her own music and theatre pieces alongside collaborations with Danish artists and musicians, building upon creative relationships established last year including that with composer Line Tjørnhøj. Line's current multi-media collaboration project Er Verden Sand includes performances of new works for cello, voice and live electronics taking place in Aalborg,Vordingborg and Aarhus this summer.

Zoë is also making a film of some of her music with video artist Signe Klejs and emerging young fashion designer Jane Munch; is taking part in "Host Guest Ghost "performance piece at Dansehallerne, is working on new solo cello and electronics pieces with Danish composers Christian Winther Christensen, Ejnar Kanding, Jens Peter Møeller and Morten Olsen for concerts in 2013, and working with theatre director Mads Schaltz Christensen on some of her new pieces for cabaret.

Zoë will be presenting her own new works in Copenhagen in workshops, concerts and radio during the residency. Tonight she is experimenting with some of her newly written stuff at Frankenstein’s Lab at Literaturhaus, Copenhagen. See Facebook event for more info.
