Dacapo Records releases Edition·S composers

Dacapo Records has a long record of releasing CDs with works by Edition·S – music¬sound¬art composers. This autumn is no exception!

Dacapo Records has already released two CDs featuring Edition·S composers: Poul Rovsing Olsen’s Piano Concerto and Orchestral Works (August 2012) and Erik Norby’s The Rainbow Snake – Orchestral Songs and Symphonic Works (September 2012).

Poul Rovsing Olsen's (1922-82) background was in the Danish-French tradition, and clear-cut rhythms, expressive melody lines and colourful tonal effects characterize his works. The CD includes Rovsing Olsen’s main work Variations Symphoniques (1953) performed by pianist Christina Bjørke and Odense Symphony Orchestra – and published by Edition·S.

Erik Norby (1936-2007) on the other hand, had a delicate Late Romantic colour in his music and a highly sophisticated feeling for the many possibilities of the symphony orchestra. The CD includes Norby’s Rilke-Lieder (1985) performed by mezzo-soprano Hanne Fischer and Aalborg Symphony Orchestra – and published by Edition·S.

Both symphony orchestras are conducted by Bo Holten.
