Mads Emil Dreyer's Figure Pieces for two percussionists were released last month by Don't look back records, recorded by Sistro Duo who also commissioned the work.
Figure Pieces consists of eight short movements scored for various metal and wooden percussion instruments such as singing bowls, chimes, glockenspiel, xylophones, and sine tone keyboards.
Simon Cummings, the composer and writer behind the music blog 5:4 calls it "One of the more beguiling things to have entered my ears recently," and continues: "Figure Pieces comprises eight short movements, each of which proves surprisingly immersive despite its brevity. They act as windows into implied larger soundworlds, yet also seem to encapsulate everything that world contains. Macrocosmos and microcosmos simultaneously."

Passive/Aggresive includes the album on their list of recommended new releases and writes that it "contains lots of meticulous sounds and timbres that call for well-deserved attention and active listening."
