Significant work grants for Edition·S composers

The Danish Arts Foundation has announced the recipients of the annual work grants, and included are several composers with works published at Edition·S.

211 composers and artists receive work grants between 20.000 and 855.000. Bára Gísladóttir is one out of three recipients of the three-year work grant of DKK 855.000.

The motivation from the Danish Arts Foundation sounds:

“Dynamic, static, brutal, gentle. In the music of Bára Gísladóttir, you are confronted with a poetic universe both introvert and wild. Her works create strong images – at times almost cinematic with their grand panoramic widths, fierce splatter scene or distant snowclad and blood stained mountaintops. It is music created with very special care for the sound to the point where the boundaries between the sound, the sources of sound and the room where the music is performed, are sometimes dissolved completely”
