Jeppe Ernst: Sangbog
Jeppe Ernst's Sangbog consists of 24 songs composed for the reader's imagination and body. The composer describes the songs as 'private music', as they are written directly for a reader or a single musician without any intention of being performed for an audience. The first half of the songs are written for the reader’s imagination, with up to six simultaneous ‘voices’ following simple rhythmic instructions – from the imagined sound of explosions and thunder to birds crossing the sky or a child’s kiss on the cheek.
Else Marie Pade: Sange fra en væg / Songs from a Wall
Songs from a Wall contain nine songs composed by Else Marie Pade during World War II while she was imprisoned by the Gestapo. Composing became her mental refuge, and she scratched the notes of cheerful swing songs into the cell wall. The songs are released in a collected songbook with chord arrangements and lyrics in Danish and English. Find more information and order Songs from a Wall here.

The work won the Reumert Award 2023, and the jury stated: "Composer Matias Vestergård and librettist Lea Marie Løppenthin created whimsical timbres and bewildered dialogue, sung as a whirlwind of morbid comedy and weird sensitivity." The libretto is published separately and is the perfekt idea for a poetic-funny Christmas present.

Jeppe Ernst: Anatomisk sangbog. Limited Art Editions

The Anatomical Songbook is a work that examines the body’s movements from a musical perspective. With a meticulous focus on individual joints and muscles, the work simultaneously poses the question of whether music should be categorized exclusively as an auditory phenomenon, i.e. something that must be heard. In Anatomical Songbook there are no instruments that play music, but instead body parts that show music. The work consists of twelve songs, each based on a body part as a musical instrument.
Anatomical Songbook has been developed for the Medical Museion in Copenhagen in a collaboration between the composer Jeppe Ernst, video artist Émile Sadria and singer/performer Jakob Bloch Jespersen.
The work is published in two limited art editions. Find both versions here.
