    Christoph Ernst Friedrich Weyse was the first composer of the Danish Golden Age and possibly the greatest. In Denmark he was a very recognized composer in his time and still is up to this day. To mark Easter we would like to draw attention to Weyse with this short article.

    On Saturday March 23, 2013 Simon Steen-Andersen’s portrait album ”Pretty Sound” won the Norwegian Grammy Spellemann 2012.The Spellemann Grammy has since its first ceremony in 1973 been seen as Norway’s most prestigious music award. It is given out every year to artists and rights holders, who have contributed considerably to the music life the past year. The aim for the Spellemann Grammy is to honour, inspire and motivate all musicians and to strengthen the unity across genres in the music life.

    Next week students of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts will perform a portrait concert of Edition·S – music¬sound¬art composer Simon Steen-Andersen.The concert is held on the first day of a film and music festival arranged by the academy, which runs from Thursday March 21 to Saturday March 23, 2013. At the concert the students will perform four of Steen-Andersen’s works including the highly acclaimed Black Box Music.

    The Icelandic Caput Ensemble performs an Icelandic-German concert, where Edition·S – music¬sound¬art composer Steingrimur Rohloff is on the programme.On Sunday March 17, 2013 the Nordic House in Reykjavík hosts an encounter between Icelandic and German culture with both culinary and musical experiences. The two-day conference is a kind of “meal between“, in a series of conferences discussing political, cultural, historical and industrial relations between the Nordic region and Germany.

    The sun continues to shine and it shines a kind light on the many talented composers on the art music scene. Yesterday was the opening concert of PULSAR festival where the prestigious Ensemble Intercontemporain performed newly composed works by young Danish composers. Amongst those were Edition·S – music¬sound¬art composer Nicolai Worsaae who had his brand new work Zwischen den beiden Kammern premiered. A beautiful piece with a front stage and a back stage:

    Rebecca Dawson is the new director at Edition·S, and as such is enjoying getting to know the many composers we publish and represent. She was attracted to join Edition·S by the tangible aesthetic diversity within its catalogue, and also by the strong presence of sound art, which is an art form not traditionally associated with an art music publisher. Also, her (barely concealed) love of Denmark, its culture and its truly collaborative spirit meant that the chance to work at Edition·S was far too good to refuse!

    It is finally SPRING! The sun is shining and everything looks a bit brighter. Here at Edition·S – music¬sound¬art we are very happy that it is springtime because that means festival time. Next week the Danish festival PULSAR kicks off at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen and we are looking forward to all the exciting performances.
