Rune Glerup On Air

It is not news anymore that the young composer Rune Glerup is experiencing great success at the moment. Fortunately this growing popularity does not seem to have an end and now he can be experienced both on radio and on film.First up, the Aarhus-based think tank “Center for Vild Analyse” (red. Center for Wild Analysis) has made a programme about Rune under the title “Rune Glerup and his musical objects”. The programme will be aired on Sunday at 5 pm.

Flashback Friday November 23

Finally the day came when Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival took off with an array of brilliant performances. So, let’s jump right in: our very own Simon Steen-Andersen’s new piece Black Box Music was performed Saturday evening by the Oslo Sinfonietta at Bates Mill hiding away amongst old factory buildings.This is a “before the performance”-picture showing the venue Bates Mill:

Østen Mikal Ore Receives Composer Prize

In September Edition·S – music–sound¬art posted a news article about the Danish Arts Foundation giving out a prize to a composer / sound artist for a work for music for and with children. 24 works were admitted in and now they have found the winners.Two composers have won a prize of 50,000 DKkr. each for their ideas. One of the composers is Edition·S' own Østen Mikal Ore and his project "Satellites".Congratulations to Østen!

Flashback Friday November 16

This Flashback is short but sweet. Our week in Edition·S–music¬sound¬art-land has been concurred by the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. The week has been devoted to the final preparations for the festival. That includes programme reading, ticket ordering and suitcase packing. And right about now we are (more) than ready to take-off.Read more about our excitements here.

Flashback Friday November 9

It’s the end of the week and therefore time for our weekly flashback. As one of our highlights was of cause the performance of Being Apu Sakar by Edition·S–music¬sound¬art’s own Christian Winther Christensen together with phenomenal percussionist Ying Hsueh-Chen at the final party for Wundergrund Festival. Ying also performed two of John Cage’s works – with a stirringly perfection in her execution in both Water walk and Child of trees.

Huddersfield: a festival of new and experimental music

Halfway between Leeds and Manchester lies the old market town Huddersfield and in one week from now Huddersfield will host UK’s largest international festival of new and experimental music. For ten whole days Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival will become a giant shell and this year “learning and participation” is at the core of HCMF.

Being Apu Sakar at Wundergrund Final Party

A new edition of the book “The Ecstatic Outsider” has been published by Engstrøm & Sødring. The book is about the legendary composer Rued Langgaard, his life and music.

New Danish Educational Site

Visions of Sounds: Simon Steen-Andersen

He does not need an introduction and still we are more than happy to present him as one of the most experimenting, rigorous composers at the present time. We are of cause talking about the Danish composer Simon Steen-Andersen.For more than a decade the art music scene has followed his steps with great interest. Simon is a traveller of extremes and is walking towards a busy autumn. From Cologne to Santiago de Compostela and from Paris to Huddersfield he will cross most of Europe’s borders.
